Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.

Conor McGoey started Inside Up Games after he was injured and had a few weeks off of his job and decided to take that time to pursue his passion. With Conor’s humor and game skills and Kwanchai Moriya's fun illustration, Gorus Maximus was born.  Although it's their first game together, it’s easy to see why these men make the perfect duo.

Inside Up Games has been rapidly gaining popularity among the gaming community. Gorus Maximus caused quite the excitement on Kickstarter with its release. Gamer fans devoured their funding goal in just under 12 hours with a lot of people making pledges mid demo. Conor was floored by the excited response to his game and wanted to humbly thank everyone for their overwhelming support. They have gone on to be able to provide 10 levels of funding stretch goals releasing all sorts of promotional products to funders.

Gorus Maximus is set in the year 66 B.C., when gladiator games were at the pinnacle of violence. Gorus Maximus excites the masses with an exceptionally bloody game where you will encounter vulnerable competition, blood drenched gladiators, bone crunching lions, and….. ostriches???? There are also martyrs. In the game players are able to recruit gladiators and beasts to challenge each other and win the fight. It is a game of politics as the goal is to earth support of the crowd by playing the most popular gladiators. Each of the gladiators is assigned a certain number of crowd support.

Rounds in the game are played similar to how hearts is played with the dominant card player taking all of the cards and adding them to his victory pile to be added up at the end. The most popular card player gets a crowd support card. The goal is to be able to win three of the crowd support cards and be the most popular.
