“Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.
For the Love of Board Games was written by Erin Dean. Erin grew up playing traditional board games but became a board game lover when she was gifted Ticket to Ride in high school. Since that time she has worked in the board game industry at Pieces: The St Louis Board Game Bar & Cafe as a game navigator. She went on to work for Genius Games as a video intern and is currently the Social Media Manager for Lucky Duck Games. Erin is known for her board game documentary that was released on Youtube called “The Board Game Room” which has over 30,000 views.
For the Love of Board Games is the first book that she has published. The project was driven solely out of passion for board gaming. It was extremely popular on Kickstarter and the project was able to reach the funding goal within 4 hours of being released. Since then Erin has been able to host Q&A sessions for backers to talk to game publishers, and add hardcover and exclusive art to the book. Her campaign has become extremely popular and was over 815% funded.
