“Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.
The Christmas Lights Card Game was created by Adam Collins and Chad Head and published through a studio in Atlanta called 25th century games. They created this game to be a family themed and used as a stocking stuffer that could be played at Christmas time. The game caters to a younger audience and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The designers created it to be very versatile. Even though there is only one set of cards they made up additional rules for 11 different games that can be played with this same deck of cards. The additional rules were made by designers Christopher Chung, Chad Elkins, Daniel Zayas, Don Riddle, and more.
The Christmas Lights Game did very well on kickstarter and was funded in under 8 hours and was able to reach their $5,000 stretch goal the very next day. And hitting the 200% funding level and able to release another 12 bonus games with stretch goals. The project launched in May and was delivered to backers 5 months later in October just in time for the holiday season.
In the game players rush to try to create stands of lights with their playing cards. Trade and arrange bulbs and see who can create the most spectacular light show in town. The players race to complete two strands of lights. The cards also complete a deck that can be used for the modified games that follow the same rules as Memory, and Old Maid to name a few.
The vintage feel and traditional characters make this game very special and nostalgic. It allows you to play all of your favorite games but with a Christmas theme. The little lights on the cards are personified with little faces and give it a childlike playfulness. Favorite Christmas characters are on the cards such as Santa, Mrs. Clause , Frosty, Rudolf, and some elves. The cards are high quality and the rules to the game are solid and well thought out.
The Christmas Light Card Game creates holiday fun for the entire family. It is easy to change between the different games that you want to play only using one deck. Lots of fun can be found in a single deck of cards. It’s a wonderful tool for families to have for those long winter breaks to create bonding.
