“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment.
With three little kids in my house, things get broken all the time. I rarely glue things back together though because super glue takes forever to dry, and once it's dry, it immediately breaks again. The team at FiberFix wanted to create a product to solve this problem, and came up with Total Glue, a light-curing adhesive that works on every surface.
Inspired by the light-curing adhesives used by dentists, they decided to apply that same technology to make a stronger glue. I love that they combined the curing light with the glue in the same tool so that I don't have two separate items to keep track of. There's also an optional precision tip for small jobs and fragile items. It works on wood, plastic, metal, and even glass and ceramic.
The curing light speeds up the process, but unlike other light-curing adhesives on the market, the glue will still work on its own if you need to bond two surfaces the light can't reach. I used Total Glue on a toddler chair that was missing the screws that connected the seat to the legs. Minutes later, I was able to pick the chair up by the seat and it stayed firm without any problems. It is still holding strong, no matter how many times my two-year-old knocks it over.
